58046 was handed over to BR during October 1986. Nearing the end of the Class 58 build programme, it had all of the later modifications incorporated from new. It was one of the unnamed members of the class until 7th July 1991, when it was named “Thoresby Colliery” and outshopped in a gleaming coat of Triple Grey with Coal Sector branding. The naming ceremony took place at the High Marnham Power Station open day, not far from the colliery it was named after.
The sector branding was removed in 1994, and during 1995 it was outshopped in Mainline Freight's Aircraft Blue. In September 1996, it was named “Asfordby Mine” and became the only locomotive to carry the RJB Mining logo on its plates; it also worked the “Worksop Aberdonian” railtour alongside 58002. Unusually, no headboard was present; instead, one cab of each locomotive carried the tour name in vinyl on the front. These vinyls stayed on until withdrawal in September 2000. 58046 was another locomotive that enjoyed a further career in France before being disposed of at Alizay in 2023.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Accurascale Class 58 – Mainline Blue – 58046 is a ready‑to‑run DCC model of British Rail Class 58 locomotive. The model carries the manufacturer part number ACC3483 and is supplied in the Mainline livery, representing the rebuilding era of the British railways.
The prototype 58046 entered service with British Rail in October 1986, near the end of the Class 58 production run and with the later design modifications already fitted. It remained unnamed until 7 July 1991, when it was named “Thoresby Colliery” and repainted in Triple Grey with Coal Sector branding at the High Marnham Power Station open day. The sector branding was removed in 1994 and the locomotive was outshopped in Mainline Freight’s Aircraft Blue during 1995. In September 1996 it received the name “Asfordby Mine”, becoming the only Class 58 to carry the RJB Mining logo on its plates and to work the “Worksop Aberdonian” railtour, where the tour name was displayed on vinyl on the cab fronts. The vinyl decals remained until the locomotive’s withdrawal in September 2000. After withdrawal the locomotive saw further service in France before being scrapped at Alizay in 2023.
