Rapido Trains UK has unveiled its next 'OO' gauge steam locomotive, the Highland Railway 'Loch' 4-4-0. Based on the 18 locomotives built by Dübs & Co and the North British Locomotive Company between 1896 and 1917, the model will include a range of features including a 21-pin DCC socket, three factory-fitted speakers, and a firebox glow on DCC-fitted and sound-fitted models.
The model will be available in eight different liveries, including HR Jones green, HR Drummond green, LMS crimson, and LMS black. The locomotives were originally named after Scottish lochs and were used on the steep gradients of the Kyle of Lochalsh and Far North lines.
The model will be priced at £219.95 for DCC Ready versions and £324.95 for sound-fitted versions. The project is currently at the tooling stage, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
