Hornby played the starring role at the official reveal of the new Great British Railways livery, with Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander unveiling the scheme using a specially produced *OO* gauge model of the Class 800 InterCity Express Train.
The occasion highlighted a pivotal moment for the nation’s railway future, giving the public an initial glimpse of the new GBR identity before full‑size trains start showing it from next year.
Created in close partnership with the Department for Transport, the Hornby model delivers a highly detailed representation of the new livery, featuring a striking red, white and blue palette and sharp angles echoing the Union Jack.
“We are incredibly proud to work on this at such a significant point for the industry,” said Martyn Weaver, Brand Managing Director at Hornby. “Producing the first model to showcase the new Great British Railways livery has let us capture that moment in a way people can see, hold, play with and enjoy.”
Hornby’s Class 800 model will be available for purchase next year, in line with the rollout of the real trains across the network.
