Kernow Model Rail Centre announces exclusive Revolution Trains Class 175

Published Wednesday 18 February 2026

Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC) has unveiled a new 00‑gauge exclusive model produced by Revolution Trains. The 2‑car diesel multiple unit is finished in the unbranded Transport for Wales red and grey scheme that is currently seen on the network operated by Great Western Railway.

The release reflects the continued introduction of ex‑Transport for Wales units into the Great Western Railway fleet, with the real trains now in service across Devon and Cornwall.

Livery information

The prototype units operate in an unbranded variation of the Transport for Wales red and grey scheme, preserving the base colour pattern but omitting any Transport for Wales branding. This transitional look mirrors the fleet’s current in‑service condition before any future repaints or GWR branding are applied.

Features and specification

Produced for the KMRC by Revolution Trains, the highly detailed 2‑car 00‑gauge diesel multiple unit includes:

The model follows Revolution Trains’ established tooling for the Class 175 and is supplied ready for DCC fitting.

The Class 175 is part of the Alstom Coradia family, which was produced by Alstom between 1999 and 2001.

A total of 26 units – ten two‑car and sixteen three‑car sets – are being added to the Great Western Railway fleet to enhance punctuality and reliability. The units are mainly allocated to services between Exeter St Davids and Penzance, with additional runs to Barnstaple and Okehampton.

The trains can operate in four‑, five‑ or six‑car formations when coupled in multiple.

Pricing and availability

The KMRC Exclusive class can be pre‑ordered directly from KMRX. The DCC‑Ready version is priced at £279.95, while the SOUND FITTED models are available for £374.96 and are pre‑fitted with an ESU Loksound Decoder.

Produced by Revolution Trains, the models are expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Additional details, such as liveries and running numbers, will be confirmed by KMRC in due course.
