Hornby has announced that its OO gauge SR Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 locomotive, number 21C1 Channel Packet, will be fitted with the company's innovative steam generator technology. This feature will enable the model to produce realistic clouds of water vapour that will billow out of the chimney.
The Channel Packet model is due to be released in February 2026 and will be priced at £364.99. The prototype locomotive, which was the first of its class to enter service in 1941, has a rich history, having been based at various locations, including Salisbury and Stewarts Lane.
