Heljan's 'OO' gauge Class 86/2 locomotives are nearing release, with decorated samples currently being prepared for inspection. The models will feature various liveries, including a new parcels liveried model.

The Class 86/2 was a modification of the original Class 86, built by English Electric at Doncaster Works and the Vulcan Foundry between 1965 and 1966. Many were later modified to improve their bogies and speed capabilities. One preserved example, 86259 Les Ross, has been working on the main line since preservation.

Heljan's new model will include features such as:

Support for locomotives with and without high-intensity headlights and Time Division Multiplex cables
Two styles of pantograph
Directional lighting
Cab lighting
A 21-pin Digital Command Control socket
Provision for DCC sound

The range will include models in various liveries, including:

86241 Glenfiddich in Parcels Sector red and grey
86253 The Manchester Guardian in BR blue
86204 City of Carlisle in InterCity 'Executive'
86238 European Community in InterCity 'Swallow'
86240 Bishop Eric Treacy in Virgin Trains red/grey
86259 Les Ross in BR electric blue
86261 Rail Charter Partnership in EWS red/gold
86701 Orion in Colas Railfreight
86260 in Anglia Railways colours

The 'OO' gauge models are priced at £254.95 and are due for delivery in the second quarter of 2026.
