Bachmann is to produce an exclusive 'OO' gauge model of the Caledonian Railway (CR) '439' 0-4-4T for Rails of Sheffield, with delivery anticipated for 2027.

The CR '439' 0-4-4T was built between 1900 and 1925 for branch line work and suburban passenger duties around Glasgow. 92 locomotives were built, with 47 inherited by British Railways in 1948. The final examples were withdrawn in 1962.

The all-new 'OO' gauge model will feature:

Coreless motor
All-wheel pick-up
Die-cast chassis and gearbox
Firebox glow
Next18 Digital Command Control (DCC) socket
Stay alive capacitor
Factory-fitted speaker

Initial models will appear in the following liveries:

439 in CR lined blue
419 in CR lined blue
15189 in LMS lined crimson
15216 in LMS lined black
55224 in BR lined black with late crests

Additional models will be produced as part of the Railway Icons range, including:

419 in CR lined dark blue, as it appeared in the 1975 Stockton and Darlington cavalcade
55189 in BR black with early crests, for the Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS)
