Model railway maker Dapol is set to launch a range of O‑ and OO‑Gauge wagons featuring a special livery to support the World Book Day charity.
The firm has partnered with Browsers Bookshop, which represents independent booksellers, and Booklaw Publications, covering independent publishers, to boost the fundraising push for the charity. World Book Day has long been a celebrated event, and anyone with children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews will recognise the joy the day brings to young readers.
Dapol will release the wagons in March, promising a donation to the charity for every unit sold. The collection includes ventilated vans and Conflats with their containers, each adorned in either the Browsers Bookshop, Book Law Publications or World Book Day liveries, finished either weathered or pristine.
OO‑Gauge models will feature NEM pockets and self‑centring couplings, while the O‑Gauge range will have the appropriate three‑link or screw‑link couplings. Decorative chains to join the container to the Conflat are supplied with the O‑Gauge Conflat and its container.

World Book Day was founded to demonstrate that reading can also be enjoyable. Studies show that reading markedly improves lives and is a key factor in helping children grow into happier and more successful adults. Only one in three children admits to enjoying books, and the charity seeks to change that picture by encouraging more youngsters to find reading fun, engaging and social.
This year’s World Book Day will be celebrated on Thursday, 5 March.
