Bachmann has announced its next 'OO' gauge diesel locomotive project: the BR Class 13 diesel shunter, due for release before the end of 2025. The Class 13 was specifically built for use in Tinsley marshalling yard in Sheffield, converted from pairs of Class 08s in a master and slave formation for hump shunting.

The new Bachmann model will accurately portray master and slave units, with the slave model featuring no cab. The combination will include multiple working equipment, aerials, sprung buffers, and other detailed features.

Fully motorised master and slave units
Directional lighting
'Bach-Up' capacitor
Five-pole motor with flywheel
Metal gearbox and metal bearings
All-wheel electric pick-up and drive
Cab lights fitted to the master unit
Plux22 Digital Command Control (DCC) sockets
Plug-in electrical connection between units for easy DCC sound installation

The first wave of releases will include two models:

D4502 in BR green with 'wasp stripes'
13003 in BR blue

£569.95 DCC Sound-fitted Deluxe

Sound-fitted and Sound-fitted Deluxe models will feature a Zimo MS450P22 sound decoder in the master unit and a Zimo MN330P22 decoder in the slave.
