Bachmann's popular OO gauge Caledonian Railway (CR) '812' 0-6-0 locomotive is back in production, and this time it's exclusively available from Rails of Sheffield. The model includes a preserved version of locomotive 828 in both its as-built and as-preserved conditions.
The '812' was designed by John F. McIntosh in 1899 and saw service until its withdrawal in 1963. One locomotive, 828, was preserved by the Caledonian Railway Trust and is currently undergoing an overhaul to return it to operational condition.
The new model will retain the same specification as the previous batch released in 2022, including a Next18 Digital Command Control (DCC) socket, pre-fitted speaker, firebox glow, coreless motor, and all-wheel pick-up. Preserved 828 will be featured in both as-built CR light blue and as-preserved CR dark blue liveries.
The model will be priced at £214.95 DCC Ready and £329.95 DCC sound-fitted. Pre-orders can be made exclusively from Rails of Sheffield with a non-refundable £30 deposit. The model is expected to be delivered in Quarter One 2026.
