Bachmann is set to release a new production run of its OO gauge Class 47 models, with several enhancements over previous runs. The five newly announced models are due for delivery in the first half of 2026.

The Class 47 was a versatile locomotive, with 512 units built between 1962 and 1968 at Brush Traction's Loughborough Works and BR's Crewe Works. They were used across the nationalised network for a wide range of freight and passenger duties. Although mass withdrawals began in the 1990s, some were rebuilt into Class 57s, and 31 have been preserved. Several others continue to see frequent use on the main line with operators like GB Railfreight and West Coast Railways.

The new batch of Class 47s will feature several upgrades, including:

A Bach-Up stay alive capacitor
Improved twin speaker setup with enhanced passive radiator bass speaker
Improved fit of the cab windscreen
Body-mounted optional snowploughs
Bachmann's DCC auto-release coupling system on DCC Sound-fitted Deluxe models

Each model will also include:

A five-pole motor
All axle drive and pick-up
Separate metal bearings
Die-cast chassis and bogie towers
Directional lighting
Cab and engine room lighting
Rotating roof fans and tinted windscreen glazing on DCC Sound-fitted Deluxe models

Five general release models are planned:

47226 in BR blue (Cat NO: 35-411A)
47238 in BR blue (35-411B)
47280 in BR Railfreight large logo grey (35-0416)
47791 Orient Express in Rail Express Systems red (35-429)
47826 in West Coast Railways maroon (35-431)

An additional model, exclusive to The Model Centre (TMC), will appear as D1676 Vulcan in BR two-tone green with full yellow ends.

DCC Ready models are priced at £239.95, with prices for DCC Sound-fitted and DCC Sound-fitted Deluxe models to be confirmed.
