Accurascale reintroduces RHTT FEA-F wagons

Published Thursday 26 February 2026

Accurascale has confirmed the reintroduction of its Railhead Treatment Train FEA-F wagons in OO/4mm scale, now featuring updated tooling, post-2009 configurations and four twin‑pack releases set for delivery in the second quarter of 2027.

This re‑release is one of the most requested projects since Accurascale took over the tooling. The company has carried out extensive revisions before these models go into production.

The new production run reflects the fleet’s post‑2009 layout and covers both main operating formats:

All wagons are finished in Network Rail’s modern blue colour scheme used by the FEA-F fleet in current operations.

Four twin‑wagon packs will form the first release:

Accurascale notes that the former Hattons tooling has been re‑engineered rather than simply reissued. The upgrades incorporate specific prototype corrections and refinements, such as:

The models are produced in OO/4mm scale and supplied in twin‑wagon packs that match operational pairings.

The Railhead Treatment Trains, introduced in 2005, were designed to tackle low‑adhesion problems caused by leaf fall. The FEA-F caravans, numbered 642001 to 642050, were built by Greenbrier Europe in Poland.

These modular wagons carry combinations of water tanks, high‑pressure water‑jetting equipment and Sandite applicators. The purpose‑built fleet replaced earlier converted vehicles, providing a uniform, nationwide solution for autumn and winter railhead treatment.

Over the past twenty years the RHTT fleet has operated extensively across the UK network and has become a regular seasonal feature of modern operations.

Each twin‑wagon pack sells for £149.99, which is £25 lower than the inflation‑adjusted original suggested retail price.

Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. As with previous releases derived from Hattons tooling, the models will only be available through the Accurascale website.
