Accurascale has announced that their Pannier tank locomotive models are on track for delivery in Q3 2025, following a slight delay. This was necessary to address two key issues with the original design.
The first issue was with the dome, which was not sitting straight. Accurascale successfully overcame this challenge through intricate tooling adjustments.
The second issue was with the wiring, which was deemed messy and less than ideal. To resolve this, Accurascale collaborated with ESU to simplify the wiring and circuitry. The result is a much cleaner and more streamlined design, featuring pogo-pin connections and relocated stay-alive capacitors.
The new chassis design also includes a magnetic, removable smokebox door with a sliding mechanism, making it easier to fit the decoder without having to remove the body.
The Pannier models are still available to pre-order and will be priced at £139.95 for DC/DCC ready models and £239.99 for DCC sound-fitted models. The models will be available in a range of liveries, including:
