Accurascale anounces London Transport Class 66

Published Thursday 12 March 2026

Accurascale is bringing to market a set of exclusive ‘OO’ gauge models of GB Railfreight’s (GBRf) London Transport Class 66 duo – locomotives 66718 and 66721 – with delivery slated for the middle of 2027.

Number 66718 reached Newport Docks on 9 April 2006 in the inaugural GBRf Metronet livery, intended for service on the London Underground sub‑surface lines. In 2013 the locomotive was finished at Arlington Fleet Services’ Eastleigh Works in a distinctive London Transport‑inspired map and was christened Sir Peter Hendy CBE. The paint scheme was updated in 2023 and the name changed to Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill of Imber in the County of Wiltshire.

Locomotive 66721 arrived alongside 66718 and was named Harry Beck in January 2007 to honour the designer who first produced the London Underground map in 1933. In 2013 it was finished again at Eastleigh in a London Underground map livery – one side depicting the original 1933 map, the other a contemporary version. The livery has been refreshed on several occasions since then.

Accurascale’s third batch of Class 66s for ‘OO’ gauge incorporates a number of subtle improvements over earlier runs: a newly tooled exhaust silencer with an enhanced profile and added detail, revised hand‑brake linkages moulded out of position, and a new etched middle hand‑rail bracket that can be fitted to cab fronts. Further enhancements include representation of roof‑mounted Wi‑Fi pods, Freightliner cab‑door modifications and new replacement BMAC lighting units.

All models will be fitted with a five‑pole motor, twin fly‑wheels, all‑wheel drive and pick‑up, rotating axle‑box covers, a stay‑alive capacitor, a cube speaker and a 21‑pin DCC decoder socket concealed behind a removable roof section. Sound‑fitted models will also feature an Accurathrash speaker.

The models are available exclusively through the Accurascale website, priced at £179.99 DCC‑ready and £279.95 DCC sound‑fitted, with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2027.
