Pre-production preview of the new 2-BIL from Hornby. Coming 2013. Visit http://www.hornby.com/shop/2013-range/diesel-and-electric-locomotives-and-packs/r3162-br-2-bil-2-car-electric-multiple-unit-train-pack/ for more information.
The classic designed Southern 2-BIL first made its appearance on the Southern Railway in 1935. Over the years the 152 twin car units saw stalwart service both with Southern Railway and BR but were eventually retired in 1969. The twin car 2-BIL (BI = 2 and L = Lavatories) had a maximum speed of 60mph and collected their power from a third rail.
The Hornby model not only captures the shape and style of these much loved units but they have also been designed so that they can travel at a scale speed.
