It is rather wonderful to think that a single esoteric prototype electric locomotive would be considered commercially viable to produce in model form, but here we are in 2025 with a brand-new ‘OO’ gauge model of just that – the Class 89 Co-Co electric. Just one was built, and although its career was shaded by maintenance issues, it has remained popular since it was built.
