Manufacturer description

If you stand on almost any mainline railway station nowadays you will be unlikely to hear the sounds of coach doors being banged shut, but rather see the almost silent sliding doors of modern coaches and multiple units. You'll hear the tones as they open and fast warning beeps as they close.

Train-Tech have managed to fit a tiny speaker onto their OO gauge coach light strip which simulates these sounds automatically. Not only can you light your coach but also hear these realistic sounds when the train has stopped at a station for a while.

Like all Train-Tech coach light strips there are no wires, pickups or switches, but powers the lights flicker-free from a standard coin cell battery. The lights turn on automatically as soon as the train moves and turn off after it has not moved in a while. Just remove the roof, locate the strip using Blu-tack or similar, and refit the roof - it really is that quick and easy

The strip can be cut down to suit the length of the coach.

Train‑Tech Automatic Coach Lighting Cool White/Door Tones (part number TTCL34) is an OO‑gauge coach light strip that incorporates a small speaker to reproduce realistic door opening tones and fast warning beeps when a model train stops at a station.

The strip is powered by a standard 2032 coin‑cell battery and requires no wiring, pickups or external switches. A built‑in motion sensor activates the lights as soon as the train moves and switches them off four minutes after the last movement, allowing the lights to remain illuminated while the train is stationary in a station. The strip can be attached with Blu‑tack or a similar adhesive and fitted by removing the coach roof, positioning the strip, and refitting the roof.

Lighting is available in traditional warm white or modern cool white, with optional tail‑light, spark‑arc and door‑light effects; the necessary effect LEDs are included. The strip measures 220 mm long by 8 mm wide (16 mm at the battery holder) and can be cut to suit the length of the coach. It is compatible with both DC and DCC systems and fits most OO and HO coaches. The 2032 coin cell typically lasts several months in normal use and years when the train is in standby.

A smaller version is also offered for N‑gauge models, and stock underground lighting is available as an additional accessory.
