165 vacuum braked Borails were built to diagrams 1/482 and 1/483 in the late 1950s. The Borails were built with 8' plate bogies and vacuum brakes.
The original use for the Borails was to carry rail or beams. The usefulness of the design (particularly the Borail EC) soon saw them used for other uses including: second hand tractors transported from Cambridge to Fishguard/Holyhead; and ordnance containers/military vehicles to Donnington. The Borails remained as built from 1959 until 1981-2.

Revolution Trains BR Borail EC (BRV) Bauxite Livery with Flat Deck No. B946065 and B946073 – Twin Pack is an OO gauge model of British Rail Borail wagons painted in the pre‑TOPS blue (British Rail Blue) livery. The product is supplied as a twin pack containing two wagons with different numbers, and is identified by the manufacturer part number RT-OO-BRV-403.
The model is built to 1:76.2 scale and incorporates accurate detail differences such as buffers, bogies and brake‑gear. It uses RP25.110 gauge wheels mounted on 26 mm axles and features NEM coupler sockets. The wagons have a minimum radius of 2nd radius and are suitable for layouts requiring realistic British railway wagons.
The real Borail EC wagons were vacuum‑braked flat‑deck wagons constructed to diagrams 1/482 and 1/483 in the late 1950s. A total of 165 units were built with 8‑ft plate bogies and were originally intended for transporting rails or beams, though they were later employed for moving second‑hand tractors, ordnance containers and military vehicles. They remained in service from 1959 until 1981‑82.
