The prototype
The Class 175 and Class 180 are both members of the Alstom Coradia family of units and share many common features and parts. The Class 180 units are a 5-car 125mph high-speed express member of the Coradia family. 14 sets were ordered by First Great Western and given the brand name ‘Adelante’, which means ‘go ahead’ in Spanish. Intended for high speed express services to South Wales and later used for fast commuter trains from Oxford, Gloucester and Exeter to London. Hull Trains used four Class 180s, though these units have recently been transferred to East Midlands railway and are now in use between London St Pancras, Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield. Grand Central introduced two units for its services between London Kings Cross, Sunderland and Bradford, and now has ten in operation in its striking black and orange livery.

Revolution Trains Class 180 East Midlands Railway (180109) is a limited‑edition OO gauge (1:76.2) model of a five‑car diesel multiple unit from the Alstom Coradia family. The model carries the part number RT‑OO‑180‑EMR‑104A and represents the current era of the Class 180, which is used by East Midlands Railway on services between London St Pancras, Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield.
The model includes a highly detailed exterior and interior, directional working lights, user‑switchable lighting functions and a low‑profile drive unit. Electrical connections between the cars are provided via kinematic close coupling, and a 21‑pin MTC DCC decoder socket is fitted (one decoder is required per unit). Twin speakers are positioned in each driving car, and fine wheelsets conform to NMRA RP25 standards, allowing operation on Peco radius‑2 curves.
The package does not include a DCC fitting service; the DCC status is listed as not applicable. The model is supplied without a decoder and is intended for use with standard OO gauge track and accessories.
