The model is built to a scale of OO gauge and is designed to represent a BR-owned wagon. It is intended to depict the early British Railways era, prior to the widespread introduction of the crest on railway liveries.

The LMS D1666 5 plank open wagon was a common type of goods wagon used by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway and later British Railways. The model has a 9ft wheelbase and features independent brakes on either side.

The model's wheels are split-spoked and run on metal bearings. The construction is injection moulded with metal detailing parts used to add additional features. A high level of detail is included above and below the floor line, with NEM coupler pockets for easy connection to other rolling stock.
