Rails aim to fill the need for niche products, which simply would not justify a large production run. As they are produced in limited quantities, these vans are priced slightly higher than mass produced items, however, we feel the price reflects fantastic value for such distinctive models.
A tremendous amount of research and development has been put into this project to ensure accuracy and true replication has been achieved.
Special commissions are usually only available new from the commissioning organisation, and may well have sold out on pre-order before they even end up listed here! But you may be able to find used items on marketplace or auction websites.
Supplier links are provided for your convenience and do not guarantee that the product is currently available. RailwayModels.uk is not a representative of these suppliers, but may receive a commission when purchases are made through links on this page.
Rails GWR Iron Mink "Salvage" Save for Victory Wagon No.47528 is a limited‑edition model released by Rails of Sheffield. It carries the manufacturer part number GWV6‑008 and represents the British Railways Early Crest period.
The model is exclusive to Rails and is produced entirely in the United Kingdom. It is manufactured using an ultra‑high‑resolution, aeronautical‑grade polyurethane (PU) that is described as super‑strong and has a design life of more than 25 years. The build process employs the latest light‑technology methods, allowing infinite flexibility for creating all variants.
Rails produces this wagon in low volumes to cater for niche demand that would not justify a large production run. Consequently, the price is slightly higher than that of mass‑produced items, but the company states that the price reflects good value given the model’s distinctiveness and level of detail.
Extensive research and development has been undertaken to ensure accurate replication of the original wagon, achieving a high degree of fidelity to the historic prototype.
