Manufacturer description

If you are a regular to Blackpool and a model enthusiast, you may like our Oxford Diecast Blackpool Closed Top - 1:76 Scale. It was in 1951 the decision was taken to develop a lightweight vehicle with the ability to seat 64 passengers, an initial estimate of 2,000 vehicles being suggested. Several protoypes appeared over the next few years and testing of the buses took place with development being carried out by a range of companies. It was not until the early sixties that the buses were seen on the streets of London in any quantity and by now a decision had been made to concentrate the future development of buses on one-person operated vehicles. No further Routemasters were built after 1968 although due to maintenance, refurbishment and deregulation they are still seen not only in the capital, but also in many locations throughout the UK and overseas. Treat ypurself to a our Oxford Diecast Blackpool Closed Top - 1:76 Scale vehicle today.

Oxford Diecast Blackpool Closed‑Top bus – 1:76 scale. The model carries the manufacturer part number RM100 and represents the British Rail Blue livery that pre‑dates the TOPS (Total Operations Processing System) colour scheme.

The original vehicle was conceived in 1951 with the aim of creating a lightweight double‑deck bus capable of seating 64 passengers. Prototypes were built and tested throughout the 1950s, and series production began in the early 1960s, when the buses entered regular service on London streets. Production ceased after 1968, but many examples have been maintained, refurbished and operated both in the capital and in other parts of the United Kingdom and abroad.

This die‑cast model reproduces the closed‑top Blackpool bus in minute detail, suitable for collectors and enthusiasts of British transport history. It is offered in a 1:76 scale format, making it compatible with traditional OO gauge railway layouts.
