'The Festival of Britain was held in 1951 to commemorate the new found freedom and 'The Future' prosperity of Great Britain. The exhibition was displayed on the South banks of the Thames and covered an area similar to that of the Millennium Dome and indeed on which the Dome was styled. The exhibition was erected in front of the Battersea Power Station.
