Manufacturer description

The Oxford Rail 6 wheel 'Toad' is based on Diagram AA1 6 wheel version

500 of this, the four wheel variant, Diagram AA3 were built between 1889 - 1901.

The Oxford Rail model will show variations between the time that these vehicles were built and later when part of the wood planking had been replaced with steel sheets. (Hence later models are described as plated).

We have teamed up with Dan at DH Loco Worx & Kyle at TRS Trains to bring this model to life, with a light dusting this brings the model closer to true to life as operations and weather takes its toll.

The Oxford Rail 4 Wheel Bala 56449 model is a weathered representation of a British Railways early crest period vehicle. This model is part of the Oxford Rail product range. It is based on the four wheel variant, Diagram AA3, of the 'Toad' design. A total of 500 of these vehicles were built between 1889 and 1901.

The model will show variations in its design, reflecting the changes that occurred as the original wooden planking was replaced with steel sheets over time. This is often referred to as a 'plated' model. To achieve a more realistic finish, the model has been weathered by Dan at DH Loco Worx and Kyle at TRS Trains.

The weathering process involves a light dusting, which simulates the effects of wear and tear on the vehicle over time. This adds a level of authenticity to the model, making it more representative of a real-life vehicle. The collaboration between Oxford Rail and the weathering experts at DH Loco Worx and TRS Trains has resulted in a highly detailed and realistic model.

Oxford Rail has partnered with DH Loco Worx and TRS Trains to bring this model to life.
