Prototype Era
Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest

Manufacturer description

The Oxford Rail 6 wheel 'Toad' is based on Diagram AA1 6 wheel version

500 of this, the four wheel variant, Diagram AA3 were built between 1889 - 1901.

The Oxford Rail model will show variations between the time that these vehicles were built and later when part of the wood planking had been replaced with steel sheets. (Hence later models are described as plated).

We have teamed up with Dan at DH Loco Worx & Kyle at TRS Trains to bring this model to life, with a light dusting this brings the model closer to true to life as operations and weather takes its toll.

The Oxford Rail 6 wheel 'Toad' model is a representation of a British Railways early crest period wagon. The model is based on Diagram AA1 and is weathered to give a realistic appearance. The real-life 6 wheel 'Toad' wagons were built between 1889 and 1901, with a further 500 four wheel variants, Diagram AA3, also being constructed during this time period.

This model shows the differences between the original wood planking and later versions with steel sheets. The collaboration between Oxford Rail and DH Loco Worx and TRS Trains has resulted in a model that has a light dusting, bringing it closer to a realistic representation of a weathered vehicle.

Oxford Rail has partnered with DH Loco Worx and TRS Trains to produce this model. DH Loco Worx can be found on Facebook and Instagram, while TRS Trains also has a presence on these platforms, as well as a website.
