Manufacturer description

The Land Rover defender comes with Road Rail equipment. In real life these cars access the track via a crossing or purpose built ramp. The hydraulics position the rail style wheels into position, leaving the rubber tyres touching the track. At which point the driver operates the car as normal with the rail wheels acting as a guide to the vehicle.

This die-cast Land Rover Defender features pose-able rail wheels - they can be set up (for road use) or down (for rail use).

The model comes complete with a set of rail ramps which are used to gain access to the track.

Oxford Rail/Road Defender Railtrack is a model of a Land Rover Defender with road-rail equipment. The model is finished in a cream colour and has a length of 76mm.

The model represents a Land Rover Defender equipped with road-rail gear, which allows it to access the track via a crossing or a purpose-built ramp. The vehicle's rail-style wheels are hydraulically positioned to make contact with the track, with the rubber tyres remaining in contact with the road. This allows the vehicle to be operated as normal, with the rail wheels serving as a guide.

The model features poseable rail wheels, which can be set up or lowered, depending on whether the vehicle is being used on the road or the rail. The model also comes with a set of rail ramps, which are used to facilitate access to the track.

The model is part of the Skale Autos range and is representative of the period of initial railway privatisation. It is liveried for Railtrack, the railway company that existed from 1996 to 2002.
