Era 7 (1972 to 1982) British Rail Blue (TOPS)

Manufacturer description

The smallest of the three LNER bogie drop-side ballast wagon designs but the only one not built before nationalisation. BR diagram 1/571 was built from May 1950 to May 1951 by Butterly Engineering under lot 2121. Only 50 were ever built with numbers ranging from DB990050 to DB990099.

Allocated to the Eastern region these wagons remained in the region and rarely strayed far, serving in permanent way trains and stone workings. They were later given the TOPS code YCO and continued to be used up until the 1980s as unfitted stock fell out of use.

The Oxford Pilchard Wagon in BR Blue is a model of a British Rail wagon produced by Oxford Rail. This model features a weathered finish and is designed to represent a BR Blue era wagon, specifically representing the TOPS period.

The model represents a BR diagram 1/571 wagon, which was built between May 1950 and May 1951 by Butterley Engineering under lot 2121. A total of 50 wagons were produced, numbered DB990050 to DB990099, and all were allocated to the Eastern region.

These wagons were primarily used in permanent way trains and stone workings and were later given the TOPS code YCO. They remained in the Eastern region and continued to be used until the 1980s, when they were eventually phased out as unfitted stock fell out of use.
