Prototype Era
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
The smallest of the three LNER bogie drop-side ballast wagon designs but the only one not built before nationalisation. BR diagram 1/571 was built from May 1950 to May 1951 by Butterly Engineering under lot 2121. Only 50 were ever built with numbers ranging from DB990050 to DB990099.
Allocated to the Eastern region these wagons remained in the region and rarely strayed far, serving in permanent way trains and stone workings. They were later given the TOPS code YCO and continued to be used up until the 1980s as unfitted stock fell out of use.

The Oxford Pilchard Wagon, BR Black DR990052, is a model of a British Railways Late Crest era wagon.
This model represents a wagon built by Butterly Engineering under lot 2121 between May 1950 and May 1951. A total of 50 wagons were produced, numbered DB990050 to DB990099.
The wagons were allocated to the Eastern region of British Railways and remained there, primarily used in permanent way trains and stone workings. They were later given the TOPS code YCO and continued in service until the 1980s, when they were replaced by more modern, unfitted stock.
