800 of these vans were produced by the Great eastern Railway between 1900 and 1909 and were used to convey livestock to and from East Anglia, although some of the wagons where photographed as far away as northern Scotland and south west England.

Oxford GER 10‑ton Cattle Van – BR E626749 is a historic railway wagon built for the Great Eastern Railway. Its manufacturer part number is OR76GEC004 and it dates from the British Railways Early Crest period.
Around eight hundred of these vans were produced between 1900 and 1909. They were primarily employed to transport livestock to and from the East Anglia region, though examples have been photographed as far north as Scotland and as far south‑west as the West Country.
