The Oxford GER 10‑ton Cattle Van – catalogue reference 626478 – is represented by the model number OR76GEC003B. It depicts a Great Eastern Railway van that was later incorporated into the LNER fleet after 1936.
The model illustrates a vehicle produced in a batch of approximately 800 units between 1900 and 1909. These vans were employed to transport livestock to and from East Anglia, and photographic evidence shows some examples operating as far north as Scotland and as far south‑west as England.
The period represented by the model is the era of the Big Four railway companies – LNER, LMS, GWR and SR – the dominant operators in the British railway network prior to nationalisation.
