800 of these vans were produced by the Great eastern Railway between 1900 and 1909 and were used to convey livestock to and from East Anglia, although some of the wagons where photographed as far away as northern Scotland and south west England.

The van represents the era of the British railway “Big Four” (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR). Eight hundred examples were built by the Great Eastern Railway between 1900 and 1909.

These vans were designed for the transport of livestock, principally serving routes to and from East Anglia. Photographic evidence shows that some units also operated in northern Scotland and the south‑west of England.
