Era 2 (1875 to 1923) Pre-grouping
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
The Caledonian Railway 264 and 611 Classes, commonly known as the “Pug,” were 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotives built for the Caledonian Railway. The Class 264 was introduced in 1883 to a design by Dugald Drummond and built by Neilson and Company, with the related Class 611 following from 1895 under John F. McIntosh and built at St Rollox Works.
Some of these were paired with a small, improvised coal tender attached behind them, providing extra coal capacity beyond what the original saddle tank could hold. After the 1923 Grouping they passed into the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, and subsequently to British Railways in 1948. Withdrawals were completed between 1959 and 1962. No examples of the class were preserved.

Oxford CR Class 264/611 – LMS Plain Black 16032 Sound Version is a model representing the Caledonian Railway “Pug” locomotives. The model carries the manufacturer part number OR76CRP002XS and depicts the period of the Big Four railways – LNER, LMS, GWR and SR.
The Class 264 locomotives were introduced in 1883 to a design by Dugald Drummond and built by Neilson and Company. The related Class 611 followed in 1895 under the direction of John F McIntosh and was constructed at the St Rollox Works. Both classes were 0‑4‑0 saddle‑tank engines, some of which were later equipped with a small improvised coal tender to increase fuel capacity.
After the 1923 Grouping the engines passed to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway and later to British Railways in 1948. Withdrawals were completed between 1959 and 1962 and no examples of the class were preserved. This sound version model reproduces the audible characteristics of the original locomotives.
