Manufacturer description

The Bedford TK was produced by the Vauxhall-owned Bedford company. It was introduced in 1959 and had a variety of uses, including fire engines, military vehicles, flatbed trucks and other specialist utility vehicles. The letter 'T' stood for 'Truck'. It epitomised the perfect lightweight truck and remained so until the end of the 1970s. Available as a rigid truck as well as a tractor unit, it proved very versatile and its longevity speaks for itself, as it is still used in some developing countries even today.

Oxford Diecast Chipperfield Elephant – 1:76 Scale model.
Manufacturer part number CH003. The model represents a Bedford TK in British Rail Blue livery, a pre‑TOPS colour scheme.

The die‑cast replica is produced in 1:76 scale and depicts the vehicle as it would have appeared during its service life before the introduction of the TOPS system. It is finished in authentic British Rail Blue with appropriate detailing for a period model.

The original Bedford TK was launched by the Vauxhall‑owned Bedford company in 1959. Designed as a lightweight truck, it served a wide range of roles including fire engines, military transport, flat‑bed trucks and other specialist utilities. The vehicle was available both as a rigid truck and as a tractor unit and remained in production until the late 1970s; it continues to be used in some developing countries.
