Manufacturer description

The AEC 34 seater bus was a revolution when launched in 1909 when approximately 60 were manufactured. It was built at Walthamstow.Known as the X type it used a four cylinder 28 hp petrol engine. With the increase in production the model was modified several times and in 1916 the government assumed control of production for the duration of World War 1.

Oxford Diecast Collector – 1:76 scale model, part number B061. The diecast replica represents the era of the Big Four railway companies – LNER, LMS, GWR and SR.

The model depicts the AEC X type bus, a 34‑seater introduced in 1909. Around sixty of the original vehicles were manufactured.

The buses were built at Walthamstow and were powered by a four‑cylinder 28 hp petrol engine. Throughout its production run the design was altered several times.

In 1916 the government assumed control of the factory for the duration of World War I, continuing production under wartime conditions.
