Manufacturer description

Released in January 1983, the XR3i was the 'hot-rod' of the age. The XR3, introduced three years earlier, straddled the divide between being a three-door, state-of-the-art family car and the powerful instrument loved by young - mostly male - drivers. The XR3i came with an improved spec including a modified engine system giving 105bhp at 6000 rpm, a top speed of 120 mph and a 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds. The car's visual racy image included alloy wheels, special tyres and a large rubber spoiler.

Oxford Diecast Black Ford Escort XR3i – 1:76 Scale

The model bears the manufacturer part number 76XR003 and was released on 01 January 1983. It is a die‑cast replica of the Ford Escort XR3i in black finish, produced at a 1:76 scale suitable for display in model railway layouts.

The period represented by the model is the British Rail sectorisation era. The original XR3i, launched three years after the XR3, featured an upgraded engine delivering 105 bhp at 6000 rpm, a top speed of 120 mph and a 0‑60 mph time of 8.5 seconds. Its appearance was enhanced with alloy wheels, special tyres and a prominent rubber spoiler.

The die‑cast version includes accurate details such as the alloy wheels, tyre tread and rear spoiler, making it a precise addition for collectors of British automotive memorabilia and railway enthusiasts alike.
