Manufacturer description

In the evolution of the VW Camper Van, the bay window version, known as the T2, superseded the split windscreen model in 1967.  The vehicle was still produced by VW in Germany and featured upgrades – apart from the panoramic windscreen – including a larger engine, 12 volt battery/electrical system and half-shaft axle rear suspension. Other modifications included front brakes, new wheels and side bars which could be used as a step to get into and out of the van. It was also larger and heavier than its predecessor.

Our latest release is decorated in an attractive two tone pale grey and white colour scheme with white bumpers and white VW badge.  The white roof also has a rear slatted area masked in brown.  The interior of the camper van is moulded completely in beige.

Camper vans are still much sought after today and command high prices, even second-hand, or pre-loved as now described!

Oxford Diecast Model of the VW Bay Window Camper in a two‑tone pale grey and white scheme, produced at a 1:76 scale. The model carries the manufacturer part number 76VW032 and is presented in the British Rail Blue (Pre‑TOPS) period.

The vehicle depicted is the bay‑window version of the VW T2, which replaced the split‑windscreen model in 1967. It incorporates the original upgrades of the full‑size van, including a larger engine, a 12‑volt electrical system, half‑shaft rear axle suspension, front brakes, new wheels and side bars that double as a step for entry and exit. The model reflects these details with white bumpers, a white VW badge, a white roof featuring a rear slatted area masked in brown, and an interior moulded entirely in beige.

The die‑cast model aims to represent the larger and heavier T2 camper van accurately, capturing its distinctive colour scheme and design elements. Camper vans of this type remain popular among collectors and continue to command strong market values, even in second‑hand condition.
