First launched in 1968, the second generation T2 was a great improvement on the previous split windscreen version of the 1950s. It was larger and heavier with a new wider front windshield and a bigger engine. It was manufactured initially in Germany before extending manufacture and/or assembly to the rest of Europe, the USA, Mexico and South America. The VW Type 2, classed as a Van/Minibus had a wide range of uses with body style variations to suit, including 3 door van, 4 door minibus, 2 door truck with regular cab and 4 door truck with crew cab amongst the many configurations.

Oxford Diecast VW Van Pastel White is a die‑cast model in 1:76 scale, produced by Oxford Diecast under the part number 76VW013. The model is finished in a pastel white livery and is intended to represent a vehicle from the British Rail Blue period, i.e. the pre‑TOPS era.
The vehicle depicted is the second‑generation Volkswagen Type 2 (T2) which was first launched in 1968. Compared with the earlier 1950s split‑windscreen version, the second‑generation T2 had a wider front windscreen, a larger engine and greater overall dimensions, making it both larger and heavier. Originally manufactured in Germany, production and assembly were later extended to other parts of Europe, the United States, Mexico and South America. The Type 2 was sold as a van or minibus and was available in a range of body styles, including three‑door van, four‑door minibus, two‑door regular‑cab truck and four‑door crew‑cab truck.
