First launched in 1968, the second generation T2 was a great improvement on the previous split windscreen version of the 1950s. It was larger and heavier with a new wider front windshield and a bigger engine. It was manufactured initially in Germany before extending manufacture and/or assembly to the rest of Europe, the USA, Mexico and South America. The VW Type 2, classed as a Van/Minibus had a wide range of uses with body style variations to suit, including 3 door van, 4 door minibus, 2 door truck with regular cab and 4 door truck with crew cab amongst the many configurations.

Oxford Diecast Lime Green/White VW Camper Open is a 1:76 scale model (manufacturer part number 76VW012) representing a Volkswagen Type 2 camper in the British Rail Blue pre‑TOPS colour scheme.
The model depicts the second‑generation T2, which was first launched in 1968. This version was larger and heavier than the earlier split‑windscreen model, featuring a wider front windshield and a larger engine. Production originally took place in Germany before extending to other European factories as well as facilities in the United States, Mexico and South America.
The Volkswagen Type 2 was classified as a van/minibus and was offered in numerous body‑style configurations, including three‑door van, four‑door minibus, two‑door truck with regular cab and four‑door truck with crew cab. The die‑cast version captures these characteristics in a lime‑green and white livery.
