Manufacturer description

First launched in 1968, the second generation T2 was a great improvement on the previous split windscreen version of the 1950s. It was larger and heavier with a new wider front windshield and a bigger engine. It was manufactured initially in Germany before extending manufacture and/or assembly to the rest of Europe, the USA, Mexico and South America. The VW Type 2, classed as a Van/Minibus had a wide range of uses with body style variations to suit, including 3 door van, 4 door minibus, 2 door truck with regular cab and 4 door truck with crew cab amongst the many configurations.

Oxford Diecast Yellow/White VW Camper Closed – 1:76 scale
Manufacturer part number: 76VW008

The model represents a second‑generation Volkswagen Type 2 (T2) camper in the classic yellow and white livery, offered as a closed‑top vehicle. It is produced in 1:76 scale (OO gauge) and is presented in a die‑cast metal body with plastic windows and detailed chassis.

The T2 entered production in 1968 as an improvement on the earlier split‑windscreen design, featuring a larger, wider front windscreen, a more powerful engine and an increased overall size. Originally manufactured in Germany, later production and assembly were extended to other parts of Europe, the United States, Mexico and South America. The vehicle was marketed as a versatile van/minibus, available in several body‑style variations such as three‑door van, four‑door minibus, two‑door regular‑cab truck and four‑door crew‑cab truck.

The period represented by this model is denoted as British Rail Blue (Pre‑TOPS).
