Manufacturer description

The Standard Vanguard was a British car made between 1947 and 1963 by the Standard Motor Company of Coventry and comprised the first post-war car they produced. Designed by the company's designer Walter Belgrove, nearly 175,000 were made before production ceased, across several variants. Our model is based on the four door saloon. It is easy to imagine it as a staff car or similar used in the Armed Forces and it is such a role that our fifth release takes on, as used by the RAF on deployment in sunny Cyprus. Decorated in sandy beige with white roof, RAF blue interior and registered 74 AD 95, the model has an RAF roundel on the near side of the boot lid. There is no other decoration but the unusual Standard front grille badge and rear boot badge are certainly worth a mention as they are so different. The model would also provide an unusual addition to a 1:76 collection of immediate post-war military vehicles.

Oxford Diecast Standard Vanguard RAF Nicosia – 1:76 Scale

Manufacturer part number: 76SV005. The model represents the British Railways Late Crest period of the Standard Vanguard, a four‑door saloon produced by the Standard Motor Company of Coventry between 1947 and 1963.

The die‑cast vehicle is finished in sandy beige with a white roof and an RAF blue interior, and is marked with the registration 74 AD 95. An RAF roundel is applied to the near side of the boot lid, and the distinctive Standard front grille badge and rear boot badge are retained. The model is intended to depict a staff car used by the Royal Air Force on deployment in Cyprus.

At a scale of 1:76, the model provides an unusual addition to post‑war military vehicle collections, especially those focusing on immediate post‑war British armed forces transport.
