The Scammell Pioneer saw extensive use during WWII especially as a recovery vehicle and our version comes in a desert camouflage military livery, as deployed in the Mediterranean, particularly in the Italian campaign, where it was used by the 6th Armoured Division, whose 'mailed fist' crest is depicted in black and white on the front and rear mudguards of our model.
Military markings add a spot of colour in blue, red, white and yellow around the body and the RAF roundel appears on the roof of the cab. The winch and towbar on the recovery section of the tractor are also finished in the same sandy colour as the body, as are the wheels.

Oxford Diecast 6th Armoured Division – Italy Scammell Pioneer Recovery is a die‑cast model of the Scammell Pioneer tractor that served extensively as a recovery vehicle during the Second World War. The model bears the manufacturer part number 76SP006 and is presented in a desert camouflage livery reflecting its deployment in the Mediterranean, particularly during the Italian campaign with the 6th Armoured Division.
The vehicle’s mudguards feature the division’s “mailed fist” crest in black and white, and the body is accentuated with blue, red, white and yellow military markings. A Royal Air Force roundel is applied to the roof of the cab. Both the winch and tow bar of the recovery section are finished in the same sandy colour as the main body, and the wheels share this finish.
The period represented by the model is noted as British Railways Early Crest, providing an additional historical reference for collectors.
