Shelvoke and Drewry Freightlifter in bright yellow and red and registered 956 FJO, the lettering on the lower skirt of the model indicates that the vehicle operated out of Swindon.
The famous British Road Services crest is printed in full colour on the Dualdrive cab of the fork lift, which Shelvoke & Drewry introduced as a direct competitor to the American Hyster forklift. Its capacity of being able to lift between 12000 and 18000 lbs with a lift height of up to 29 feet made it a desirable vehicle for use with the Armed Forces as well as with railway companies. First produced in 1952, the Freightlifter went on until 1974, with one or two re-designs along the way. Our highly detailed model is a tribute to a great little workhorse.

Oxford Diecast Shelvoke & Drewry Freightlifter BRS is a 1:76 scale replica supplied by Oxford Diecast, part number 76SDF004. The model represents a British Railways late‑crest vehicle, painted in bright yellow and red, and bears the registration 956 FJO. The lettering on the lower skirt indicates that the vehicle was based at Swindon.
The fork‑lift cab displays the full‑colour British Road Services crest on the dual‑drive cab, reflecting the original Shelvoke & Drewry Freightlifter which was marketed as a British alternative to the American Hyster forklift. The real machine could lift between 12 000 lb and 18 000 lb to a height of up to 29 ft, making it suitable for use by the Armed Forces and by railway companies.
The Freightlifter was first produced in 1952 and remained in manufacture until 1974, undergoing one or two redesigns during its career. This highly detailed diecast model is intended as a faithful tribute to the historic workhorse.
