Manufacturer description

The classic Range Rover, also known as the first generation Range Rover, was introduced to the public in June 1970. It was originally a 2-door model and is credited with pioneering the luxurious SUV market, combining off-road capability with on-road comfort. Launched as ‘The Car for all Reasons’ it boasted a top speed of around 100 mph. Classed as a 4 x 4 mid-sized off road vehicle, the Classic Range Rover stayed in production until 1996 it was superseded by a second generation Range Rover in 1994, at which point it was referred to as the Classic and ran alongside its successor until 1996.

Our 1:76 scale replica dates from 1977, registered SYW 605S.  It represents a vehicle from the AA’s fleet of service and relay vehicles of the era where its design and functional capabilities would have proved a great asset. Decorated in the AA corporate bright yellow and black colour scheme, a roof box has been added to the rear of the roof displaying AA Service. The Range Rover name is printed across the edge of the wide bonnet.  The interior moulding is also completely black, rounding off another great addition to Oxford’s fleet of national roadside recovery vehicles.
