Manufacturer description

The Bedford QL was the First World War II military truck which Bedford built against a War Office specification for a 3 ton 4 x 4 general service vehicle. The QLR variant was modified specifically for Signals operations and contained electrical equipment, radio suppression, fitment of a 660 watt auxiliary generator and two 16 gallon fuel tanks, amongst a host of other essentials. There was also provision for aerial masts and other equipment.

During World War II, 8 Corps played a part in the battle for North West Europe, including the Battle of Normandy and Operation Market Garden and for its third campaign outing, our miniature Bedford QLR is decorated in the dark brown and grey black camouflage scheme with lighter brown canvas section and dark brown interior, as it might have been deployed in the region. Military lettering L559841 is printed on the cab doors and the rear.

Oxford Diecast Bedford QLR 8 Corps HQ NEW is a 1:76 scale die‑cast model representing the Bedford QLR signal truck used by the British Army during the Second World War. The model carries the manufacturer part number 76QLR003 and depicts the vehicle as it appeared in the early British Railways crest period.

The Bedford QL was originally built to a War Office specification as a 3‑ton, 4 × 4 general‑service truck. The QLR variant was adapted for signals duties, fitting a 660 W auxiliary generator, two 16‑gallon fuel tanks, radio‑suppression equipment, aerial mast provisions and other specialist gear.

The miniature is finished in the dark brown and grey‑black camouflage scheme employed by 8 Corps in the North West Europe campaign, with lighter brown canvas sections and a dark brown interior. Military lettering “L559841” is printed on the cab doors and the rear of the vehicle.
