Manufacturer description

Oxford’s 1:76 scale model of the Austin Maxi represents the medium sized family car which Austin and then British Leyland made between 1969 and 1981 at the Cowley Works in Oxford.  The Maxi was the last car designed by Sir Alex Issigonis and appeared as a five door hatchback and featured a 5-speed manual gearbox, with a 97 mph top speed. 1974 saw an upgrade to a 4-speed automatic version. Our version is also based on the Maxi 1750, identified as such on the radiator badge, as well as by the Leyland MAXI 1750 marque on the boot.

Registered JDB 988V from 1979, our model appears in a rich brown colour scheme with black interior, warm terracotta dashboard featuring the minute detail of the original and light ivory seating. Silver exterior trim completes the image of a car that performed pretty well during its lifetime before it was superseded by the Austin Maestro, also the subject of an Oxford Diecast model.
