Manufacturer description

The Bedford MWD, first launched in 1937 by Bedford Vehicles in the UK, was a 15 cwt general service truck used extensively by the British Army during WWII. It was based on th commercial 2-ton truck but to cope with the potentially uneven military terrain, its chassis was modified to give it extra ground clearance. Built to take a crew of one originally, it was built was a canvas roof and doors and a collapsible windscreen. Later versions had enclosed cab, metal doors and an improve windscreen.

The Bedford MWD was also widely used in transporting troops, particularly in the armoured brigades. This fourth model in the series comes in Olive Drab with slightly lighter Olive Drab 'canvas' back and an earth coloured interior with black steering wheel. The detailed military lettering and numbering features on all sides of the vehicle, including the artwork in white on the cab roof to identify it from the air.

The Bedford MWD was introduced by Bedford Vehicles in 1937 as a 15 cwt general‑service truck. During the Second World War it was adopted by the British Army and, with a modified chassis for increased ground clearance, served in a variety of roles including troop transport for armoured brigades. Early examples had a canvas roof, doors and a collapsible windscreen; later versions were fitted with an enclosed cab, metal doors and an improved windscreen.

This fourth variant in the series is finished in Olive Drab with a slightly lighter Olive Drab canvas‑type rear and an earth‑coloured interior. It features black steering wheel, detailed military lettering and numbering on all sides, and white artwork on the cab roof to aid aerial identification. The model includes the period‑appropriate accessories and markings for a historically accurate representation.
