This glorious retro colour scheme takes one right back to the days when J Lyons were based in Kensington, West London, from where their famous products were driven in specially liveried vehicles all over the capital and beyond. The dark blue, cream and silver scheme conjures up all those delicious treats of a bygone era.
The Morris J van was one such vehicle and here it is registered RGU 283 and decorated with Lyons Ice Cream graphics, including a bright red sign on the two cab doors. The van’s upper body and roof are painted in buttermilk yellow, the lower body in Oxford blue, separated by a broad silver waistband edged in white. The exterior trim is silver, including the detailed headlamp configuration, bumpers, window surrounds and front grille surround. The printing on the upper body is dark blue with additional lettering in white across the lower sides. The back features double doors with two silvered windows, while the interior is black. Different from many other Oxford’s Ice Cream vans, this one was used for transporting rather than dispensing, making it doubly interesting to your ice vehicle line-up.
