Manufacturer description

The Royal Ulster Constabulary was the name of the police force in Northern Ireland from 1922 to 2001. At its peak the force had around 8,500 officers with a further 4,500 who were members of the RUC Reserve. The RUC had long used armoured vehicles to provide protection to its officers. The first to be based on the Land Rover appeared in 1957, on a Series 1 109" wheelbase pick-up body (registration WZ 599, fleet number 233). This incorporated only a basic level of protection, designed to repel bricks and bottles in a public order situation. Our model is based on this first version and carries the authentic registration.

Oxford Diecast RUC Land Rover 109 Canvas – 1:76 Scale is a die‑cast model replicating the first armoured Land Rover used by the Royal Ulster Constabulary. The model is identified by the manufacturer part number 76LAN1109006 and is produced in the 1:76 (OO) scale.

The vehicle represented is based on the Series 1 Land Rover with a 109‑inch wheelbase pick‑up body that entered service in 1957, bearing the authentic registration WZ 599 and fleet number 233. It provided a basic level of protection designed to repel bricks and bottles during public order incidents. The Royal Ulster Constabulary, the police force in Northern Ireland from 1922 to 2001, employed such armoured vehicles to safeguard its officers, supported by a reserve of around 4,500 personnel.

The model is catalogued as representing the British Railways Early Crest period and includes the correct registration details to reflect the original vehicle.
