The Morris Commercial J4 van was a 10 cwt (0.5 ton) forward control van which Morris Commercial launched in 1960. It quickly became the ‘go to’ vehicle for deliveries due to its style and capacity. As a result it was a familiar sight on UK roads decorated in the likes of Royal Mail, British Rail, the Police as well as by smaller firms as a general utility vehicle.
Painted in a rich blue with no livery at all and so the effect focuses the eye on its styling. The silver exterior trim takes in the distinctive radiator grille, above which the Austin badge is printed in red on silver. BMC of which Austin was also part, interchanged the Austin and Morris marques by using different badges, radiator grilles etc, one of which carried through to the J van as seen on this model.
Registered 2417 BP, this version has dark blue wheels to match the body colour while the interior is moulded in black with dark blue dashboard. The double doors at the back would have made loading and unloading easy and the two small back windows incorporate a glazed effect, adding even more realism.
