Manufacturer description
Launched in 1974 as a successor to the iconic VW Beetle, the VW Golf has also had the backing of a devoted clientele and is still going strong today, due to its reputation for reliability, expert manufacturing, performance and durability.
When it first appeared, the Golf was of the first widely successful front wheel drive hatchbacks. The GTI version was introduced in 1975 and was highly popular due to its enhanced performance, including its 0-60 acceleration in 9 seconds!
The latest in Oxford’s VW Golf GTI line-up appears in the VW signature mid grey colour scheme and comes with smart matt black trim. A distinctive feature is a fine red stripe surrounding the radiator grille. The Volkswagen Golf GTI lettering is printed across the back below the rear window. Complete with black interior, our model is registered A367 RYW from 1983 which was also the last year of the GTI before VW brought in the MkII version.
